GTF Scotland

GTF Scotland was part of the GTF United Kingdom and was part of the Global Taekwon-do Federation since its conception back in 1990 when the Federation was founded by the late Grandmaster Park Jung Tae 9th Degree Blackbelt. Grandmaster Park was an excellent Taekwon-do practitioner and his strength, power and precision of technique was second to none.

Mr Allan CunninghamGTF Scotland’s President Mr Allan Cunningham 5th Degree Blackbelt has been the GTF Scottish President since day one. Mr Cunningham attended the first seminar with Grandmaster Park when he was Master Park 8th Degree which took place in Coventry. It was that time when the Mid West Taekwon-do Association became the GTF UK. He also attended the first European Global Taekwon-do Council meeting which also took place England in 1992.

GTF Scotland support every GTF World and European Championships, many times taking the largest contingent with them, one of the most recent being 116 at the 2006 World Championships in Maracalagonis in Sardinia. We also like to enter as many different Federations and styles Championships as possible to put the GTF badge on the winners podium, promoting Grandmaster Parks brand of Taekwon-do and making other styles and organizations take note that GTF Taekwon-do has excellent techniques and standards.

The GTF is like a big family and in Scotland this is no different. Everyone is treated equally and is not interested in any of the politics that is evident in other associations worldwide. We look after our Instructors and Blackbelts, who in turn look after our coloured belt students. We have regular Instructor meetings. We offer numerous local tournaments, seminar, courses, fortnightly Blackbelt training as well as training a National Demo Team. We offer our Blackbelts either World or European Championships and our coloured belts are offered World or European Festivals every year. We also offer winter and summer camps and of course or famous party nights.

Our Instructors implement the techniques of our founder Grandmaster Park, who visited Scotland on many occasions for Seminars and Championships. One of Grandmaster Park’s fondest memories of Scotland was playing the Old Course in St Andrews.

Our aim is to be the No. 1 Taekwon-do group in Scotland, always trying to improve and strive perfection in technique and support the GTF and its President, Mrs Linda Park, Honorary Grandmaster 9th Degree.

Grandmaster Park Jung Tae is being inducted into the Taekwon-do Hall of Fame in 2009, and deservedly so. To the members of GTF Scotland he was and always will be Taekwon-do. He was truly a great man, who followed the tenets of Taekwon-do all his life. He was a great teacher in many aspects of life, not just martial arts.Mrs Shirley Cunningham

In 2009 GTF Scotland’s Instructors voted Mr Cunningham President and Mrs Shirley Cunningham 3rd Degree Blackbelt Vice-President for life.

Mr Stephen Gell 5th Degree Blackbelt is GTF Scotland new Technical Director and doing a very good job.
